Colorado's SB25-003... heard about it, yet? If not, you can read the whole bill here: SB25-003.
But if you want to read further to see me rant about it logically, please... by all means... get comfy, because it's utter bullshit and needs to be addressed as such.
SB25-003 was not only drafted in a way that allows the state of Colorado's Anti-Gun Legislators to "cherry-pick" which Semi-Auto guns and parts Coloradoans can own (manufacture/purchase), but also additional obstacles to jump through in order to even think about purchasing one. Ok! That last line may be a bit of an exaggeration, but if you've been paying attention to the gazillions of articles on here at Mom-At-Arms regarding the extreme gun grabbing being done in Illinois, then you know that my exaggeration isn't that far off from the actual truth. In short, Colorado is looking to implement their own "FOID" system, much like that in Illinois, where residents of the state will not be able to legally possess firearms or ammo UNLESS they've gone through all of the hurdles the state implies. Colorado is actually taking it one step further than Illinois by imposing a standard that you also have to have one of these cards stating that you're "fit enough" to simply take a gun safety class.
You'll submit a background check, and you only get one of these precious cards if your local sheriff says you're fit to have one.
Now, I'm a "Cop's Kid." I ain't hating on the Blue Line, but I will tell you as someone connected to it, NOT ALL COPS ARE GOOD, and SHERIFF'S ARE ELECTED OFFICIALS... aka... POLITICIANS. Let that sink in!
At the same time, I do not see where ANY Sheriff or Law Enforcement entity would want this extra responsibility!
They determine who's fit and unfit to exercise a Constitutional Right. (STRESSFUL)
They have to keep up with ALL of the paperwork, filing, and processing of said info. Much like how the (regrettably still intact) ATF goes around to FFLs, now they get to go pay Sheriff's offices some extra visits, too.
Sheriff's risk their careers if they make THE WRONG DECISION. (If you're one, think about it.) This could lead to class, sex, and race issues within the locales implementing these standards. I can only imagine the riots. Just sayin...
The list goes on and on about how horrid this bill is, but those are the top three that immediately come to my mind. Reading through the bill in its entirety (linked in beginning of this article but here it is again for you lazy asses), it amazes me that those who voted for it do not see the outright "supremacy" expressed within.
And they call US the "Extremists."
Currently, this bill is going through Colorado's Finance Committee before hitting the House.
Coloradoans of all backgrounds and politics need to stand firm AGAINST this bill... like, RIGHT NOW! Don't sit on this one. Seriously, because like all other Gun Control Bills that take root in our nation, they spread like a virus to other states outside of the one of origin. KILL IT TILL ITS DEAD! Contact your legislators AND GOVERNOR NOW if you are in Colorado and tell them "No to Oppression!" because that is literally what this bill is.
