The Daily Herald has a zip code search for COVID-19 confirmed cases for the entire state of Illinois. Illinois is under a stay-at-home order (although it’s not nearly as draconian as other states, surprisingly) and has 33,000 cases (most are in the Chicago area, as you see) . This is eye opening:
Zooming in, it tells more to the story.
All of the grey areas, outlined by zip codes shown on the map, have 0-6 positive COVID-19 cases. As you see, the whole crisis is strongly focused in areas surrounding Chicago and Cook County. So, with proper (ugh) social distancing and hand washing/sanitizing, it is perfectly doable to open up most of the state of Illinois.
