Smokes, guns and the progressive “white saviors”

This is rich. The Biden administration is moving to ban menthol cigarettes because “black Americans are hurt by the industry’s aggressive targeting of the product”.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The Biden administration this week is expected to propose a ban on menthol cigarettes, a move backed by civil rights groups that say Black Americans are hurt by the industry's aggressive targeting of the product, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

The administration will seek to ban menthol and other flavors in mass-produced cigars, the newspaper reported, citing unidentified administration officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

This is the same reason gun control groups are going after bans and restrictions on firearms and attacking the 2nd amendment. Everytown’s media arm (the Trace’s Champe Barton) says so right here:

Further, Everytown’s main money man, Michael Bloomberg, flat out says minorities need to be disarmed for their own safety:

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg reportedly argued Friday that guns need to be kept out of the hands of minorities in order to keep them alive.

While speaking at the Aspen Institute, Mr. Bloomberg, 72, said 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: a male minority between the ages of 15 and 25, The Aspen Times reported.

Cities need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive, the former three-term mayor said, according to The Times.

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” said Mr. Bloomberg, who funds the gun-control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety. “They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

They’re even launching red flag gun confiscation campaigns in which the targets are new minority gun owners. With all of these recent examples, sounds like they’re all saying that the color of your skin automatically determines your actions and the need for government to step in, eh? Talk about being the real racists and not afraid to hide it.......
