VCDL is right about their prediction (compromise on bills like SB 16)

The Virginia Citizens Defense League had this to say on Facebook late last night:

They‘re exactly right. SB 16 is about as draconian as it comes. They (the VA Democrats) know this as well. They knew it would cause an uproar. What will likely happen is that they’ll “fix” it and allow grandfathering of currently owned weapons as long as you register them. This is no compromise as we all know. A similar “compromise“ was tried in Illinois, but luckily citizens engaged the sponsor of the bill and got her to announce what she really thinks:

Tough questions about gun rights prompted Illinois state Sen. Julie Morrison to taunt a constituent with possible gun “confiscation” policies in the future.

The Illinois State Rifle Association recently shared footage of the Democrat’s mocking response to a town hall participant who asked pointed questions about SB107, legislation that penalizes lawful gun owners with a fine.
“I’m not taking your gun away from you,” the lawmaker told her constituent on June 11. “You just can’t buy any new ones.” “Unless I pay a fine for each firearm and register them, then I get to keep them,” the questioner replied. “So, if I get to keep it if I pay a fine and register it, then how dangerous is it in the first place and why do I need to pay it at all? Why do you need to try and ban my semi-automatic weapon?”

“Well, you just maybe changed my mind,” Ms. Morrison said. “Maybe we won’t have a fine at all. Maybe it’ll just be a confiscation and we won’t have to worry about paying the fine.”
“Excellent,” the man said, seemingly content that Ms. Morrison’s legislative ideal was revealed.

Video of exchange is at the bottom of the linked article. It goes without saying that Senator Morrison is allied with Moms Demand Action.

Notice the “has never voted in favor of any pro-firearm legislation“ part? It‘s a stance the VA dems will now take even more sternly. Anyone that legally owns a gun is their enemy.

The linked exchange led to massive uproar on social media. The senator didn’t like it, and started blocking people on her official account, which violates first amendment court rulings (politicians can’t block critics on social media):

This doesn’t need to be said as most everyone is aware, but any “compromise” is just meant to shut people up. They have the same agenda and the same goal in the back of their minds. You can thank Senator Morrison for proving that point.
